Head of Technology
Committee Roles and
Responsible for strategic planning and the overall running of the society. Directs and chairs committee meetings. Leads on firm communications and liaises with all committee regularly to ensure the smooth operation of events, the analyst program, Union and inter-society relations.
Assists the President, deputises at events where the President cannot attend. Produces content for presentations and seminars, maintains an active line of communication with sponsors. Ensures continuity and long-term sustainability of the society. Oversees the handover procedure each year. Traditionally assumes a greater level of responsibility within the second term of the academic year.
Handles administrative tasks including engaging with over 2,600 society members through weekly newsletters, email correspondence and social media management, attracting wider audiences..
Responsible for finances of the society, produces all invoices and manages the budget for the year. This includes the production of budget projections, allocation of resources and completion of the end of year accounts for auditing. Works closely with the President and VP to ensure the most effective use of resources for the benefit of sponsors and members.
Head of Technology
Responsible for ensuring an adequate number of technology focused events are run either by the committee or in conjunction with external organisations. Designs, maintains and updates the website throughout the year. Manages email address allocation, committee online communications and collaborations. Manages BIS page on the SU website. Responsible for any GDPR-related activity. The Head of Technology would resolve any miscellaneous technology issues.
Sponsorship, Alumni & Outreach x2
Have the dedication and ability to lead on sponsor pitches/negotiations and firm communications. Responsible for creating the sponsorship packages for the year and ensuring that commitments to sponsors are met. Also responsible for building new relationships with firms that do not currently engage with BIS. (Ideally for candidates who do not have a long intensive internship over the summer as lots of pitches at offices and phone calls will be needed)
Head of Analyst Programme
The most senior Investment Head, responsible for running the Analyst Programme and ensuring that a syllabus for the analysts is set for the year. Liaises with Investment Heads continuously throughout the year to keep up to date on the progress of Analysts
Investment Heads x5
Each Investment Head takes an asset class or division (Equities, Credit, FX/Rates, IBD or Buyside) and a small group of analysts (non-committee members), for which the Head will hold interviews at the beginning of the year, to mentor and teach. The Investment Heads also support their mentees with regard to interviews and applications.
Editor of Financial Review
Responsible for creating consistent and high quality market updates for the BIS Financial Review, which will be published both on BIS' social media and through weekly newsletters. The content will be created by both the editor and by selected members of BIS.
Director of Events
Leads the coordination of event (both social and professional) logistics for the society. This includes working with the General Counsel for promotion, the Sponsorship Representative and the Alumni and outreach Officer when required. Also responsible for event idea generation
